INCITS/L8 is an INCITS
Technical Committee that develops national
and international standards for
metadata and related technologies. INCITS is an Accredited Standards
Committee (accredited by ANSI)
that develops a variety
of information technology standards.
INCITS/L8 serves several purposes:

INCITS/L8 is the US TAG to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32 WG2 (Metadata). INCITS/L8 participates in all development and maintenance activities of SC32/WG2. INCITS/L8 makes recommendations to the JTC1 TAG on US positions regarding SC32/WG2.
INCITS/L8 is the US TAG to ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32 WG11 (Binding Techniques) for the ISO/IEC 11404 standard (General Purpose Datatype Specifications, formerly known as Language Independent Datatypes). INCITS/L8 participates in the development and maintenance of the ISO/IEC 11404 standard and its revision. INCITS/L8 makes recommendations to the JTC1 TAG on US positions regarding SC22/WG11.
